    City of Bohane” (2011) is the debut novel by Irish author Kevin Barry.
    The book won the prestigious International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award (2013), the Authors’ Club First Novel Award (2012), and was shortlisted for the 2011 Costa Book Awards.
    In 2007 Kevin Barry won the Rooney Prize for Irish Literature for his short story collection ”There are Little Kingdoms”. In 2011 he released his debut novel ”City of Bohane”, which was followed in 2012 by his latest short story collection ”Dark Lies the Island” (2012).
    Kevin Barry’s Ireland of 2053 is a place you may not want to be alive in, but you’ll certainly relish reading about.” said the Impac Award judges.
    City of Bohane is a vivid, atmospheric portrayal of a city in the west of Ireland set in the future but mired in the past. The highly original cast of characters are at once flamboyant and malevolent, speaking in a vernacular like no other” , added Naoise O Muiri, the patron of the award.
