Luis Vigil passed away: 1949-2019. RIP!
Luis Vigil García was a Spanish ccritic, writer, translator and editorial director. He had launched the Spanish SF magazines “Anticipación” (1966) and “Nueva Dimensión” (1968). At the first Eurocon (Trieste, Italy, 1972), “Nueva dimensión” received the Best European SF Magazine award.
He was science fiction publishing pioneer in Spain and co-director of “Nueva dimensión” (New Dimension) the most important Spanish science fiction magazine (1968 – 1983), and an important European SF magazine.
After closing it, he collaborated with several magazines about counterculture and underground cinema, and in the 90s in others like “Blade Runner Magazine”, “Action Heroes”, “Star Fiction”, “Fangoria” and “SFX”.
He and Domingo Santos created Nomanor, a sword and witchcraft hero, and was an articles, stories and comic scripts author.
Science fiction contest Alberto Magno (Albertus Magnus) winner
The Alberto Magno (Albertus Magnus) Prize is a distinction established in 1989 that is awarded to the winner of the Alberto Magno Literary Science Fiction Contest .
It is convened by the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of the Basque Country , Spain and is the oldest state competition on science fiction and fantasy.
Alberto Magno Award is granted to short stories written in Spanish or Basque within the genre of Science Fiction and Fantasy on a scientific subject.
Some days ago, it was announced winner of science fiction story Alberto Magno contest. It´s organized by Science School of Basque Country University, and is its thirty edition.
The winner of the contest, gifted with 2.000 euros, is “Venus elevado a la V” (Venus raised to the V) written by Raúl Gonzálvez de Águila.
