Russkaya Fantastika, New Russian Language SF&Fantasy Titles & News, October 2013– Patrick & Viktoriya Lajoye

As expected, many notable things are to be published this month in the Russian science-fiction and fantasy domain. But we retain just a few.

Let’s start with an anthology dedicated to the work of Kir Bulychev, The Temptation of the Sorcerer (Искушение чародея), to be published by Eksmo, containing two recently discovered texts of this important author, (including relevant Palych series) and no few than 29 new various authors.

Telluria (Теллурия) is the title of the new novel by Vladimir Sorokin, forthcoming to be published by Astrel and Corpus. The Republic of Telluria embody heaven on earth, because it posses some magic metal deposits bringing happiness. Sorokin seems to develop a kind of allegorical fantasy about the future of Europe, where we can find crusaders, centaurs, giants and even orthodox communists.

In another genre, Henry Lion Oldie and Andrey Valentinov are publishing a new novel at Azbuka Publishers, The Fortress of My Soul (Крепость души моей), which crosses episodes from the Old Testament with scenes of the modern life.

We announced a few weeks ago that Marina and Sergei Diachenko are the scriptwriters of a fantastic new TV series, The World of Darkness: Balance (Темный мир Равновесие.). Suddenly they turned their script into a novel, thus appearing at Eksmo. While this is surely a novelization, but coming from Diachenko, it can not be uninteresting.
