Starting with Saturday the 1st of June to June 30th 2013, the french medieval town of Issigeac (located in the the Dordogne department, Périgord region, approximately 20 km southwest of Bergerac in the southwestern France) devotes a summary event on the work of the French SF writer Michel Jeury (born on the January 23rd 1934), a major figure of the french science fiction. Michel Jeury lived in Issigeac and starting with 1973, the publishing date of his novel „Le Temps incertain”( The Uncertain Time), Issigeac attracts some interest from authors and readers of science fiction.
Great names of the french science fiction and editing will be present:
Gérard Klein, writer and editor of the legendary SF collection „Ailleurs et Demain” (Elsewhere and Tomorrow) (Robert Laffont Publishing Press), the writers Christian Grenier, Joëlle Wintrebert, Jean-Claude Dunyach, the editor Jean-Daniel Baltassat, the scholars Simon Bréan (Paris-Sorbonne University) and Natacha Vas-Deyres (Michel de Montaigne Bordeaux 3 University) and other science fiction specialists.
An exhibition will be dedicated to the life and work of Michel Jeury : 3 hours of streaming video on demand, multiple exhibiting windows.
The conferences will be held in the hall of the Bishop’s Castle (access via Place des Marronniers/Chestnut Place).
