French Film Director Xavier Gens’ “Cold Skin”

Cold Skin” is a 2017 French-Spanish science fiction film directed by Xavier Gens.

Alex and David Pastor wrote the film adaption, directed by Xavier Gens and co-starring David Oakes, Ray Stevenson and Aura Garrido. The premiere was scheduled for the Étrange Festival 2017, in Paris, France and the film was released on 20 October 2017 in Spain.

It is based on the 2002 “La Pell Freda” (orig. Catalan), the debut novel by Catalan author Albert Sánchez Piñol.

It won the Ojo Critico Narrativa Prize in 2002, and has been translated into 37 languages.

The novel had remarkable success with numerous reprints and translations rights. It has been translated to 37 languages, and more than 150.000 copies were sold in its original edition.

Albert Sánchez Piñol (born 1965 in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain) is a Spanish anthropologist, non-fiction writer and novelist writing in Catalan and Spanish.

An anthropologist by profession and a great lover of Africa, he has been compared to the literary greats: Edgar Allan Poe, Franz Kafka, Albert Camus, Joseph Conrad, Jules Verne, Robert Louis Stevenson, Rudyard Kipling, H. G. Wells, H. Rider Haggard, Howard Phillips Lovecraft and G. K. Chesterton, amongst others. Translated into nearly 40 languages, his international success is comparable to that of Mercè Rodoreda and his most recent novel has become an undisputed best-seller.

He has been described as a “significant European writer”.
