Two main prizes for Polish fantastic fiction published in 2012 were lately awarded.
Robert M. Wegner won a double Janusz A. Zajdel Award: for a novel “Niebo ze stali” (Skies of Steel) and for a short story “Jeszcze jeden bohater” (One More Hero). It’s sharp and solid fantasy. Great success for a young writer who has published his first story just over ten years ago.
Wegner’s novel was also nominated for Jerzy Żuławski Award, but in the end it came third. The main award went to Anna Kańtoch for the novel “Czarne” (The Black) – a weird-fiction romance with strong historical background.
